OUR TEAM
Kris Young and Terry Spears are the creative team behind 19 Artists Development, a production company with a clear mission: to promote all artists—not only those in front of the camera, but also the remarkable talent behind the scenes—everyone who contributes to the magic of filmmaking.
Kris and Terry, friends for many years, embarked on their filmmaking journey together when they both attended film school. During this time, they were mentored by Oscar and Emmy Award-winning producer Gray Frederickson, whose guidance helped shape their vision and approach to storytelling. With their shared passion for film, Kris and Terry have since built a successful partnership, producing eight feature films—including American Terror Story, Hell’s Belle, Agent Jade Black, As The Village Sleeps, Jovi & Lou, Broken City, A Dangerous Prey, and Beauty Grace Malice—all of which have secured distribution both in the U.S. and worldwide.
TERRY SPEARS
Director / Producer
Terry Spears made the transition from a successful music career to filmmaking in 2013. His strong narrative vision and passion for storytelling have driven the production and direction of eight feature films alongside Kris. Terry is currently working on their ninth project, Charlie the Cannibal Clown.
Together, Kris and Terry have produced indie films with as many as 104 cast and crew members on the payroll. However, they’ve also completed their last four features with as few as three to five crew members, themselves included. Known for making quality feature films on lean budgets that consistently secure distribution, they’ve established themselves as influential figures in the indie film world. Since 2019 they split their time residing in Los Angeles and Oklahoma.
